My Story

Derek’s Boxes was founded 10 years ago when my desire to build aluminum dog boxes required me to learn Tig Welding. Over time and through many trials and errors, my technique and precision grew to a professional level. Good enough to offer my services to the public. With the help from friends and business advisers, I’ve grown to the point where I was able to form the business I have today.

After 30 years as a telephone repair technician, I retired from that industry and began my fulltime business venture in 2020. My experiences with the public provided me the ability to cope with customers needs and desires for my service and products. Not limiting me to only aluminum dog boxes but opening me up to a whole array of welding repair needs and products to design and build.

Larger welding businesses with much greater overhead than I have, simply don’t have the time to invest in much smaller projects that are still in demand today. Aluminum is more of a specialty metal and many welding companies don’t offer that as part of their service. I simply hope to be able to grow into a reliable small business to cover the needs of the public.

So far, I have been able to help repair Aluminum wheels, boats, frames, engine blocks, pontoon boats and trailers. With a new Website, I hope to expand my business to a greater audience and not just word of mouth telling friends and family about me.
